A lot of people want to go smokefree but are often too anxious to try. However, thanks to the success of a pilot project in Swale, more and more people in Kent will be able to take part in our new ‘Cut Down to Quit’ programme, which supports you to cut down your smoking gradually before taking the next step to a smokefree life.
This service is now available in across Kent. You can get up to 12 weeks of support to cut down before quitting completely. No pressure. No lectures.
Paul Eason, 50, from Faversham says: “I was lucky enough to be part of the pilot and it really worked for me. Cut Down to Quit takes the pressure off as you’re not worried about a deadline for quitting. I’ve got a nine-month-old son now and I managed to quit around the time he was born. I want to be fit and healthy for him, to make sure I’m there for him when he grows up. I was motivated to quit but I knew I would need support. Just having someone in my corner that I could speak to each week really helped me. It’s not something that’s ‘done’ to you, you work in partnership with the service to find the best way to going smokefree. I would recommend Cut Down 2 Quit to anyone. It does exactly what it says on the tin!”
Cut Down to Quit is being offered in some areas in Kent as an extra option to our usual service. To discuss all your options talk to the Stop Smoking Service on 0300 123 1220 (option 1).
